Some of the foods you should avoid during the pregnancy period are:
1. Caffeine:

2. Artificial Sweeteners:
While purchasing products see to it that you are avoiding artificial sweeteners. They contain ingredients which are not suitable for the mother.
3. Sea Food:
Since sea food fish contains 3 fatty acids it can help the development of brain. But fishes like swordfish, Shark, King mackerel and file fish should be avoided.
Since they contain mercury, when you cook use 10 minute rule.
Smoked seafood such lox, nova style, kippered or jerky should be avoided. Since they may have been contaminated by listeria. But canned or shelf safe smoked seafood is OK to eat.
4. Herbal Teas:
Herbal Teas like chamomile and other teas should be avoided as they may affect the health of the baby. Large portions of some herbal teas may create and cause the risk of miscarriage or preterm labour.
5. Alcohol:
Alcohol should be totally avoided during pregnancy.There is no amount of alcohol is said to be OK during pregnancy.Alcohol intake during pregnancy can lead to fetal alcohol syndrome or other disorders. |
